Celebrate

Its been pretty busy around here. We have been busy celebrating mostly, celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and everything we are thankful for. The month of November, the week before Thanksgiving, is full. We are very thankful to celebrate the wonderful years we have had with all the family memebers that have had birthdays. We are also very thankful for the 2 wonderful years of marriage Sam and I have had together. The birthday that is so hard to believe we have celebrated already is our little mans'! Its been a fast and wonderful year with him, we have learned so much from him and he continues to amaze us and steal our hearts with his amazing smiles and laughs and the things he figures out how to do. He is so smart, determined, and I have no doubt when he sets his mind to anything he will be able to accomplish it and there will be no stopping him or talking him out of it. For now while we are trying to teach him right from wrong and to obey its a little tough, but its so amazing to see that spirit in him already. We love him so much and are so thankful for every moment we are given with him. He opened his first birthday present and loved the paper and tissue.
Laying on the couch with dad.
Playing with his new tractor.
He loves looking outside, I think if he could be outside all day he would, the next best thing is standing at a window.

crazy 2 weeks

Sorry it has been ahwile since I last blogged. We have been rather busy around here. Sunday the 3rd we has a wedding reception/open house for my brother and sister in law who are visiting from Veitnam and got married last october 22. And since my sister is pregnant, and in Vietnam they don't do baby showers we thought it would be a good idea to expose her (my sister in law) to a baby shower...so that got planned for the following Sunday the 10th. So hopefully needless to say, I have been a little busy around here, taking care of a 10 month old busy body, getting ready for a reception, getting ready for a baby shower, taking meals to the field (which they finished up harvest last Friday!), trying to spend as much time with my brother and sister in law while they are still here, and keeping the house in somewhat liveable conditions. The house got the brunt of the neglet, which I am now paying for and trying to clean up. But anyway. I am pretty terrible about taking the camera anywhere, and if I do happen to remember it I usually forget to take pictures. I will have to get pictures from my mom and sister and post some later. But in the mean time here are a few pictures I did get taken.
Not the best face, but this was his last ride in the combine for the year, kinda sad.
I love this picture, not sure if I can fix it up any to make it look better, I guess I love the idea of this picture! Its been very dry so very dusty, and on the last night of harvest you just get it done and don't worry about cleaning your windows!

Waking Up

Most of the time he wakes up like his dad...bright eyes and ready to go. Some times though, and I am cherishing these times, he wakes up and just wants to snuggle with mommy. I love it!

Nose

As requested by my grandmother; I am going to try and post more often. I have wanted and tried to since I started blogging but I am really going to try real hard! :) This little cutie pie scrunches his nose up and gives this big ole cheeser its so adorable. Makes me laugh just thinking about it! Here are some of the different stages of his cheese. He knows when the camera is out and will really cheese it up after the flash goes off, so we are working on learning to cheese when mommy says "say cheese".
Oh man I love this guy so much!

Standing

10 Months! 10 months, and this little guy is walking holding on to only 1 hand and that is only for security.
He stands on his own and gets into every cabinet.
He loves playing in the dishwasher and chewing on that silcone basting brush.

June, July, and August

Wow, where has time gone? I can't believe it has been 2 and a half months since I posted anything. We have been awfully busy around here. The end of June was filled with baling. We baled straw and hay, and were running around everywhere trying to get it all done before the rain came. In between that, I was busy with green beans and peas from the garden, at least I think so, I kinda forget the exact time line of these past few months. But anyway here is a picture of some of the straw bales stacked in the barn.
What a cutie pie. Looking back at pictures he has changed so much.

We took a weekend and went to visit Sam's parents. Abraham had his first time in the pool and he loved it.

Look at those cute little feet. Abraham is now crawling, pulling himself up, and getting into everything. He likes to sit at his toy basket and get everything out. There are quite a few pictures of him in the same outfit here, but I guess I just take pictures those days, he is pretty cute in it! (I have no idea why this is underlined, and I can't figure out how to undo it)

This is what happens when I don't put cloths away right away. This is also a good shot of his teeth, there are 4 on top 3 on bottom and 1 more almost through on the bottom. We had a miserable couple weeks awhile ago, 5 teeth came through at 1 time. A week was spent doing peaches, and we are now in the midst of tomatoes. Our garden has done pretty well for us this year, our sweet corn came up and put ears on, but before it was ever ready something ate it. We are blessed to have a pretty full freezer for the coming winter. We are looking forward to harvest, which is fast approaching.

Food

This is Abraham's first taste of solid food, rice cereal. He liked it pretty well the first time, and loves it now. I now mix it with banana and that makes him like the banana better!
Butternut squash
This was avacado, this is the first food that he tried and didn't go well. Im not sure what it was about it but it didn't sit right with him. We will try it again in a month or so.
Abraham has also had banana, and sweet potatoe. He likes the sweet potatoe really well. We failed to get pictures of his first bites with these food.
He is now sitting up on his own.
He isn't quite sure what to think of the grass, its pretty prickly!

God's Promise

God promised to never flood the earth again.
We have been having a lot of rain these last few weeks. This rainbow showed up after one of the many rains, and just reminded me that he is everpresent. He is always watching over us and will always take care of us. No matter how much rain we continue to get, and no matter if we don't get any when we think we need it He will provide for us and protect our occupation.

HOT

Abraham is a little like his mom...When we are hot we get a little whiney and crabby! The only difference is I will sleep.

Happenings

This is Abraham's first time in his high chair...It really wasn't that long ago, but he is growing so fast, neither that shirt nor those socks fit him anymore!
Sam and I were eating supper and Abraham kept trying to eat everything we were so I gave him a cucumber to knaw on, and he sure did. Below is the before and after.

Sam loves that Abraham is getting big enough to play with tractors, Sam is just a little protective of the tractors :)

And finally Abraham is a rolling machine! He started out on the edge of the blanket, I was in the kitchen getting supper ready and just talking to him, and so he started rolling to me. That little round about was fun to watch. He was looking at me and I told him to come over to me, and so he spun himself around and started that way! (And as you can see, we still don't have baseboards back up!)

In other news, Abraham started rice cereal this morning, a tooth cut through the other day, and he will be 6 months on Saturday!

There is no sweeter sound

There is nothing better than making Abraham laugh. He wouldn't take his eyes off the camera, the first time we had it on him he wouldn't even look at it, and now he just keeps his eyes on it. Not a whole lot else going on. Planting is coming along very well. Rainy days are bittersweet; they are a breath of fresh air, but at the same time it would be nice to get done. We have only had a few days completely rained out, and lets hope we keep making head way, and get timely rains!

Tis the Season...

Oh how I love to see dandelions!
It is so nice when the weather finially changes from cold to warm. I usually dread the change because it usually takes awhile for it to actually get warm, and then we have to go through the process of keeping a small fire going so it doesn't get too hot, but its too cold to not have a fire. Also the process of drying clothes takes FOREVER, the basement is cold so I can only do about 3 loads every other day. I hang everything I wash up to dry since the dryer is not very efficient and I have to run it twice for every load...and that just takes too much electricity and therefore money. However, this week it warmed up very quickly. It is so nice to dry clothes on the line, and get outside with Abraham. Abraham finially fell asleep on a walk yesturday. He usually stays awake because he has so much to look at, but yesturday he was tired enough that he finially fell asleep. He is just so adorable, I can't get enough of him! I love being able to stay home with him everyday and watching him grow up...all this thanks to my wonderful husband for working so hard to provide for us. We are living our dreams of farming to make a living being a stay at home mom.
The big down fall is the stupid asian beetles! There are tons on every window of our house at any point in the day. This picture doesn't even begin to show how many there are. I keep the vacuum cleaner out so I can suck them up, I just feel like my house is so dirty coming into a room and seeing all the beetles crawling around on the window, on the floor, and the ceiling. But enough of that, there are more pluses to this time of year, that is about my only negative!

I did something!

Last Saturday I had laundry and dishes caught up so I was dinkin around on the computer while Abraham was sleeping. I started getting bored with that so I thought what can I do?!?!? I thought of something!! Sam and I have talked about taking the carpet in the living room up since we moved in and I knew that it wasn't going to get done if I didn't start it right then, because as you know spring is coming quickly and that means we are busy busy busy. So I just started in on it, taking baseboards off, got that done and Abe was still asleep, so then started ripping the carpet up, and taking the tack strips up. Abraham ended up sleeping for almost 3 hours, and I got a lot done in that time, and I wanted to keep going after he was up and Sam wasn't home yet. Anyway, Sam came home and was less than impressed with my timing of taking the carpet up, but is VERY happy I did it and with the results. We knew there were beautiful hardwood floors underneath and this is the way it looks now.

So there are some consequences for not planning ahead, and this is what they are. I can live with it for awhile, but soon we will have to head to lowes and get some trim for the door jams, and I will have to paint so we can put the baseboards back up.

Since everbody looks here for pictures of Abraham, and since today is his 4 month Birthday here is a pic. He really likes this walker. It makes him look like he is standing in the picture, but he isn't, his toes barely touch the floor. He is such a cutie pie! This pic was taken a couple weeks ago, since we still have carpet there!
